Psychoeducational Assessment for Brampton Families: Fees and Booking Questions

Person writing on a clipboard during a seated discussion.

If you are exploring a psychoeducational assessment in Brampton, the cost and booking process may feel as confusing as the assessment itself. One quote may mention testing, another may include a report, and a third may leave follow-up unclear.

Before comparing totals, ask for a written explanation of the service. Your aim is to understand what the quoted fee covers and whether the assessment answers your family’s learning concerns.

Ask for an itemized explanation

A practical booking conversation can cover:

  • Intake and review of background information.
  • Testing appointments and any questionnaires.
  • Analysis, report preparation and feedback.
  • Additional consultations or communication with school.
  • Deposits, cancellation terms and payment timing.

Ask what could change the estimate. If the provider identifies a need for additional work, how would they explain it and obtain your agreement?

Do not assume the lowest or highest quote represents the best fit. The scope, responsible professional and follow-up arrangements all matter.

Confirm benefits before paying a deposit

If you plan to use extended health benefits, give your insurer the proposed provider’s designation and a description of the service. Ask what documentation they require, whether a referral is needed under your plan and how any limits apply.

Request clarification about which fees may be eligible and what the receipt needs to show. A practice’s ability to issue a receipt does not establish that your particular plan will reimburse it.

You can also ask the practice about payment arrangements, without assuming a payment plan or reduced rate is available.

Ask the school about its process

Speak with your child’s teacher or principal about current concerns and whether an assessment through the school system may be appropriate. Ontario’s special education guidance identifies the teacher or principal as a starting point for discussing assessment needs.

Ask how referrals are considered, what information is required and what supports can be discussed in the meantime. Confirm timelines directly with the school; a general online estimate cannot tell you when your child would be seen.

Booking from Brampton

When contacting Positive Kids, explain that you are travelling from Brampton and ask where testing would take place. Confirm whether any intake or feedback appointments can occur remotely and whether that format suits your child’s assessment. Do not assume the service has a Brampton testing office.

Review the Positive Kids psychoeducational assessment page and contact intake for the current scope, provider, fee and availability. Having those details in writing gives you a clearer basis for deciding your next step.
