Individual Counselling for Children

Individual Counselling for Children at Positive Kids

Positive Kids Individual counselling for children creates a secure and private environment where your child can delve into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors under the guidance of a trained professional.  Our sessions are tailored to address your child’s unique needs. In these one-on-one sessions, your child will collaborate with their therapist in our cozy and child-friendly setting, or in a safe virtual space encouraging them to express themselves freely.

The primary objective of individual counselling is for your child to equipped with coping mechanisms and strategies to navigate life’s hurdles effectively. Whether your child is grappling with family dynamics, academic stress, friendship challenges, or emotional turmoil, counseling will equip your child with tools to manage their emotions, foster resilience, and boost overall mental wellness.

Our counsellors will use therapeutic techniques tailored to the age of your child, developmental stage, and specific needs that are central to the counseling process. Our counsellors may use play therapy, art therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and more. Through these methods, your child will explore their emotions, learn healthy self-expression, and enhance problem-solving skills. Contact us today!

Individual Counselling Sessions

Individual counseling sessions also offer a safe space for children to process significant life events or traumas they have encountered. As parents, we are not always aware of what’s going on within our children. With individual counselling, they choose to share what they choose to share and be confident they will be received with non-judgment and compassion.

We ask that as a parent, you respect your child's autonomy, privacy, and confidentiality during these sessions. We want your child to speak openly, knowing that their thoughts and emotions will be honored and kept confidential unless safety concerns arise.  Don’t worry, if there are any issues we feel are concerning and worthy of your attention, your counsellor will let you know.
