Carling Barrett

Counselor

Carling holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology from Guelph University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She has a strong background working with youth and their families in recreational and educational settings and incorporates the experience that she’s gained into her therapeutic work.

Carling has a warm, caring, and nonjudgemental approach and is committed to helping the clients that she works with feel heard and supported. She is very passionate about helping her clients through life’s uncertainties and utilizes their strengths and resiliency to overcome the challenges they encounter. She supports youth who experience a variety of social and emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, low self-esteem and much more.

In her work, she uses a cognitive-behavioural framework and integrates other evidence-based therapeutic models and interventions to help her clients achieve their goals. These include solution-focused therapy, strengths-based therapy, and mindfulness. Carling believes that the foundation of therapeutic success begins by building a strong relationship that is based on trust, care and respect. Her favourite part about her work is watching her clients grow in their abilities, skills and confidence. Carling is a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) and is in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
